GYC Paralegal Spotlight: Deanna Kubinski

Deanna Kubinski once envisioned a career as an archaeologist or journalist working for National Geographic. Instead, her path led her to the legal profession, where the same curiosity, research, analysis, and storytelling skills have shaped a remarkable career.

Deanna began working at a law firm in 1987 at the age of 18. She has more than 39 years of experience in the legal field, including more than 31 years as a medical malpractice and trial paralegal. She joined Grossman Yaffa Cohen in 2001 and is celebrating 25 years with the firm.

As an experienced medical malpractice and trial paralegal, Deanna works closely with attorneys and clients throughout the litigation process. She helps move complex cases forward, coordinates the many details involved in preparing a matter for settlement or trial, and supports clients as they navigate what can be an unfamiliar and difficult experience.

Deanna also serves as office manager for GYC’s Boca Raton office. In that role, she helps ensure that attorneys and staff have the organization, resources, and support necessary to serve clients effectively and keep the office running smoothly. She has also been a Florida Notary Public since 1988.

Among the matters Deanna is proudest to have supported was a case involving a woman who died after giving birth. In addition to reaching a settlement for the family, the matter contributed to the revocation of the physician’s medical license. Deanna later worked on another case involving the same physician that resulted in a $100 million verdict for a severely injured child. For Deanna, these cases reflect the broader impact legal advocacy can have for families and patient safety.

Her original career ambitions still influence how she approaches her work. Every client brings a different story, history, and set of experiences. Deanna’s passion for learning, investigating facts, analyzing records, and documenting each case allows her to bring elements of both archaeology and journalism to the work she does every day.

Outside the office, Deanna is an enthusiastic science-fiction and monster-movie fan. Her collection of rare books and memorabilia includes everything from vampires, werewolves, and Frankenstein to aliens. When she is not working, she can often be found travelling, reading a good creature-feature novel or settling in for a monster-movie marathon.

We are proud to recognize Deanna for her 25 years of dedicated service to GYC, her commitment to our clients, and the experience and leadership she brings to our Boca Raton office.
